Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be a strategic partner to leaders of the Product Teams in the success of the strategic vision of the program.
Implementation of our strategy occurs via three cross-functional sub-teams called Work Package Teams (WPTs). The WPTs include 1) Evidence Generation Teams (EGTs) focusing on clinical development activities 2) Product Delivery Teams (PDTs) that concentrate on operations/manufacturing and supply chain activities 3) Integrated Brand Teams (IBTs) that are committed to global marketing, pricing, access, and reimbursement activities.
The Senior Global Program Manager (SPM) will drive the development, creation and implementation of high quality, global, coordinated cross-functional project plans for products in accordance with the program strategy. In addition, the SPM may be asked to lead and/or participate in special department, cross-functional, or team projects.
The SPM supports the cross-functional drug development and commercialization activities of pipeline or inline products at Amgen and will report into the Director of Global Program Management.
Role focus: Drug Development and Commercialization
This Senior Global Program Manager role provides strategic and operational program management leadership across late-stage drug development and commercialization. The SPM is a key partner to the Global Development Lead in driving the Evidence Generation Team, translating the Target Product Profile and overall program strategy into an integrated evidence-generation plan and coordinated execution across Clinical Development and Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Safety, Biostatistics, Clinical Pharmacology, Medical Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, and other relevant functions.
The SPM also works closely with the Integrated Brand Team program manager and Commercial, Medical Affairs, and Value and Access leaders to connect evidence generation and regulatory milestones with global brand planning, access strategy, launch readiness, and lifecycle opportunities.
The SPM also maintains close connectivity with the Indication Team/Product Team, which is managed by the Global Program Manager. In partnership with the Global Program Manager, the SPM ensures that Evidence Generation Team plans, decisions, risks, and deliverables are integrated into the broader indication strategy, governance roadmap, access and launch planning, and cross-work-package dependencies. The SPM supports alignment, escalation, and information flow between the Evidence Generation Team and the broader Product Team.
The successful candidate will operate as a strategic integrator across functions and teams—framing decisions, identifying interdependencies and critical-path activities, preparing decision-ready recommendations for governance, and driving accountability for milestones, risks, resources, and follow-through. This role requires the ability to translate complex scientific, operational, regulatory, access, and commercial considerations into clear, executable cross-functional plans.
