Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for Lab Operations Technician to join our team of qualified, and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL, operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. This position has no opportunity for remote or hybrid work.
Performs functions associated with Lab Build-up and Operations, including working with engineers in set-up and development tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of cables, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. Reads and interprets drawings and schematics. Able to operate and troubleshoot sophisticated systems in support of engineering development requirements. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the development process. Works with engineers in conducting experiments. Performs cabling installations and modifications as required. Installs simple and complex cabling infrastructure for new systems and modification of existing systems.
Essential Functions:
- Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
- Reading and generating engineering documentation, such as reports, drawings, flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics.
- Perform preliminary analyses of test results.
- Use personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
- Utilizes routine development or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus.
- Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
- May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and test plans.

Engineering Technician
Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineering Technician:
- High School Diploma and 4 years of related experiencing, test equipment design.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Basic Qualifications for Sr Principal Engineering Technician:
- High School Diploma and 6 years of related experiencing, test equipment design.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in electronic or systems testing in an electronics laboratory environment
- Ability to work from engineering drawings or models.
- Demonstrated experience with mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, and/or fabrication.
Primary Level Salary Range: $57,500.00 - $95,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $68,300.00 - $113,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
