What You'll Be Doing
- Monitor and work through a daily queue of break-fix and OS installation tickets, prioritizing by SLA and handling them first-in, first-out
- Perform OS deployments and server onboarding, including automated installations via PXE boot
- Remotely troubleshoot hardware, OS, and basic network issues using out-of-band tools like IPMI
- Coordinate with vendors and on-site field technicians to resolve hardware failures, including part swaps and RMA submissions
- Maintain accurate records in asset management, ticketing systems, and rack elevation documentation
- Collect and verify asset inventory data for accuracy and compliance
- Submit and track media destruction requests
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior SOEs and assist with triage documentation
- Support policies, procedures, and operational documentation as needed
- Participate in on-call rotation
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent hands-on experience
- Solid working knowledge of Linux, including command-line navigation, basic administration, and hardware fault diagnosis
- Familiarity with server hardware components: CPUs, RAM, drives, NICs, RAID configurations, and how they interact
- Experience with out-of-band/lights-out management tools (IPMI, iDRAC, HP iLO)
- Basic networking fundamentals MAC addresses, subnets, TCP/IP, routing tables
- Ability to read and execute Shell/Bash scripts; Python familiarity is a plus
- Strong communicator clear, concise written and verbal English
- Comfortable handling multiple tickets and shifting priorities without losing track of details
- Data center hands-on experience especially with physical hardware troubleshooting, not just cable management
Preferred
- Experience with large-scale or remote OS deployments (PXE boot)
- Familiarity with vendor hardware from Supermicro, Dell EMC, HPE, Quanta, or Cisco UCS
- Exposure to asset management or inventory tracking tools
- Any scripting or automation experience (Python, Bash)
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This role may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing, movement within a data center or office environment, and repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse. You'll need to be able to communicate effectively and work at a computer for extended periods. Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Salary Range
$31.79 - $50.19 USD (Hourly)
