This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a ServiceNow Developer based in Canada.
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for the development, configuration, and ongoing support of a mission-critical ServiceNow platform.
You will work across ITSM and HRSD, building applications, workflows, automations, integrations, and platform enhancements.
The role combines software development, platform administration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across development, staging, and production environments.
You will partner closely with IT and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
The position also offers opportunities to work with modern integration technologies, AI capabilities, and enterprise automation tools.
You will contribute to upgrade planning, release management, technical standards, documentation, and platform reliability.
This role is well suited to a developer who enjoys solving complex technical problems while continuously improving an enterprise technology platform.
Accountabilities:
- Develop, configure, and maintain ServiceNow applications and platform components.
- Build and maintain catalog items, record producers, workflows, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Script Includes, UI Actions, and related configurations.
- Develop and troubleshoot integrations between ServiceNow and third-party enterprise systems.
- Implement integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, OAuth, webhooks, Integration Hub, MCP, and iPaaS platforms such as Workato.
- Support and enhance ServiceNow ITSM and HRSD capabilities.
- Contribute to Incident, Problem, Change, Request, HR-related workflows, and associated automations.
- Monitor platform health and troubleshoot performance and reliability issues.
- Optimize scripts, flows, integrations, and platform configurations to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Administer roles, ACLs, permissions, and other access controls in accordance with security and audit requirements.
- Act as an escalation point for complex platform-level incidents and technical issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and coordinate resolution across infrastructure, security, vendors, and other technical teams.
- Gather and analyze business and technical requirements with stakeholders.
- Prioritize platform enhancements and backlog items according to business and technical needs.
- Take enhancements and projects through development, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
- Establish reusable development patterns and standards for workflows, notifications, approvals, documentation, and user experiences.
- Evaluate new ServiceNow releases and platform capabilities.
- Support upgrade testing, identify potential breaking changes, and implement required remediation.
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, integration documentation, and user procedures.
- Provide technical support, knowledge sharing, and training when required.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve platform functionality, automation, reliability, and user experience.
Requirements:
- Hands-on professional experience developing and administering ServiceNow.
- Experience working with ITSM and/or HRSD modules and processes.
- Strong JavaScript development skills.
- Experience with ServiceNow scripting APIs such as GlideRecord and GlideAjax.
- Strong knowledge of Flow Designer, Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions, ACLs, and Service Catalog development.
- Practical experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting REST/SOAP integrations.
- Experience with OAuth, webhooks, and enterprise integration architectures.
- Strong understanding of ITSM processes and the ability to translate business processes into effective ServiceNow solutions.
- Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex issues across ServiceNow and connected systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong technical documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technology environment.
- Comfortable working across development, staging, and production environments.
Nice to have:
- Experience with HRSD, ITOM, Workday, or identity and HR platforms.
- Experience with ServiceNow AI and GenAI capabilities, including Now Assist.
- Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and MCP-enabled tools or workflows.
- Experience developing with Service Portal, custom widgets, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with Workato or other iPaaS platforms.
- ServiceNow CSA or CAD certification.
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
